Registered User

If you do not yet subscribe either to the printed version of Cell Stem Cell or to Cell Stem Cell Online, you can become a Registered User by filling out a short questionnaire. You must also create a User Name and Password, which will then entitle you to:

• receive free email alerts whenever a new issue of a Cell Press journal is published online
• comment on an editorially-selected article
• have 24 hour access to any Cell Stem Cell Online article, including the PDF version, for $30(US).

Individual Subscriber

You can become an individual subscriber if you are:

• not a subscriber to the printed version of Cell Stem Cell (by paying the appropriate subscription fee)
• a subscriber to the printed version of Cell Stem Cell (by entering your subscription code to activate your free online access).

In either case, you must create a User Name and Password, which will then a entitle you to:

• search, read, and print all the articles and summaries at Cell Stem Cell Online
• receive email alerts whenever a new issue of a Cell Press journal is published online.

Your subscription will last for at least a year and you will be reminded to renew your subscription before it expires.

To access the content, you need to sign in with your username and password. If you are not signed in with your User Name and Password, clicking on a full-text or pdf link, will take you to the content on ScienceDirect where your User Name and Password will not work.

Institutional Licensee

Institutions can obtain site licenses for Cell Stem Cell Online  by contacting our Online Publisher or by getting in touch with their Elsevier account manager. The content for institutional users is served from ScienceDirect (www.sciencedirect.com). If you are not signed in as an Individual Subscriber, clicking on a full text or pdf link will take you through to the content on ScienceDirect. If your institution has a license to Cell Press titles, you will automatically get through to the content.

Individuals at institutions that have a site license do not need to sign in as access is granted through IP authentication.

To maintain your own, individual email alerts, if you are a user at a licensed institution:

1. Enter your user name and password in the logbox at the top of the page. Click on the link "View/Change personal Information and Issue Alerts".
2. Register as a new user by clicking the Register button in the top right hand corner of each page.

Signing in and out

This topic explains what is involved in:

• signing in to Cell Stem Cell Online
• signing out of Cell Stem Cell Online.

Signing in

Signing in to Cell Stem Cell Online is the act of entering your User Name and Password. You can do this when you select a feature at Cell Stem Cell Online that requires you to be a Registered User or an Individual Subscriber, or beforehand.

If you are:

• a Registered User of Cell Stem Cell Online, signing in enables you to:
  • maintain your email alert options
  • comment on editorially selected articles

     

• an Individual Subscriber, signing in enables you to access the features described above, as well as the full text of all articles at Cell Stem Cell Online. If you are not signed in and click on a full text or pdf link, you will be redirected to the abstract on ScienceDirect. Clicking on the link, Access  Personal Subscription to Cell Stem Cell, will allow you to sign in to the Cell Press site
• an Institutional Licensee, you do not need to sign in, as your access to Cell Stem Cell Online is granted through IP authentication at ScienceDirect. However, you can sign in as a Registered User to maintain your email alerts.

Your browser preferences must be set to accept cookies before you can sign in.

If you are having trouble signing in, the problem might be that:

• you have entered your User Name or Password incorrectly. Your Password is case sensitive (for example, if your password is cells, the site will not accept Cells)
• you have not yet activated your subscription
• your browser isn’t accepting, or can’t accept, cookies
• a proxy server or a program you are running on your computer is deleting cookies
• the date on your computer is incorrectly set.

Recovering your Sign-in details

To recover your Password, click the 'Password Reminder' link at the top right of all Cell Stem Cell Online pages until you sign in. If you have forgotten:

• your User Name, we can email it to you
• your Password, we cannot recover it. You will receive a new randomly generated Password, which you can then change.

If you have forgotten your Subscription Number, and you subscribe:

• to the printed version of Cell Stem Cell, you can find your Subscription Number on your mailing label, between the # and / symbols

Signing out

Signing out is the method you should use to end a session of accessing Registered User or Subscriber content at Cell Stem Cell Online.

When you sign out from Cell Stem Cell Online:

• nobody using your computer can access the features available to you as a Registered User or Subscriber
• nobody using your computer can amend your user details
• all cookies created on your system by Cell Stem Cell Online are deleted.

If other people can use your computer, you should make sure you sign out when you are finished using Cell Stem Cell Online, to prevent others from amending your user details.

To sign out from Cell Stem Cell Online, you can simply shut down your browser, or click the ‘Sign Out’ link that, while you are signed in, is visible under the black navigation buttons at the top of all pages.

Maintaining registration details and user information

After you sign in to Cell Stem Cell Online as either a Registered User or a Subscriber, links that will allow you to amend your Cell Stem Cell Online user details and password appear at the top of the screen on all pages .

After you sign out, these options are removed from the screen. To prevent others from amending your user details, you should always sign out if you are leaving your computer unattended.

You can click the:

• ‘Password’ link to assign yourself a new Password. You must enter your new Password twice to confirm the change
• ‘Your Details ’ link to tell us about a change of name or address

Subscribing

To subscribe to Cell Stem Cell Online or to the printed Cell Stem Cell:

1. Access the home page.
2. Click the Subscribe button at the top left-hand side of the page. It looks like this:

   Your browser displays the subscriptions page, with:

   • links to the different types of subscription, with descriptions of the types of subscriptions

   • a table detailing the prices of the different types of subscription.

3. Choose the subscription type you require and click the associated link.

   When your subscription ends, you can renew it or choose new subscription details.

   Your browser displays the appropriate subscriptions page.

4. Fill in your contact and payment details.
5. Click either the:
   • Submit order button, to subscribe, or
   • Clear button, to cancel the form.
